Art Selfie isn’t a new idea. In 2018, Google launched the initial app that helped users find their lookalikes in artwork — however, the second version of the app, which is now baked into the Google Arts & Culture app, lumps in some generative AI fun.
Art Selfie 2 lets users snap and remix a selfie using one of 25 art styles based on the works of famous painters like Monet or Vermeer. While this is the marketable part of the app, it also houses a more educational side. The app will produce a card with information about that art style upon each image generated. Users can dig deeper and learn about the artists, the era, and the locations that inspired said style.
In reality, Art Selfie 2 doesn’t generate photorealistic images. The results are remarkably cheap. Nevertheless, it’s free.
